Depart by coach bus from Florence Thursday evening (typically at 21:00*) and drive overnight to untouched Croatia! Upon arrival in Split Friday morning (arrival times vary due to traffic and border control at the Croatian border, but typically range between 09:00 - 11:00), the weekend is yours to choose from a variety of optional activities such as rafting down the emerald green Cetina River, wandering through the marble ruins of Diocletian’s Palace, or sailing the Dalmatian Coast to discover the beautiful beaches on the island of Brač. If you want to mix up your evening plans and venture from Split, enjoy an optional trip for dinner in the neighboring port town of Trogir! For the long weekend, take an optional day trip on Sunday to either Mostar, Bosnia, or Dubrovnik, Croatia, to make the most of your time in the Balkan Peninsula. On the way home on Monday, make a pit stop to swim in the magnificent waterfalls of Krka National Park.

*Please note: We drive up through Italy, crossing through Slovenia before entering Croatia. No ferries are involved in the transport to and from Croatia.
Day 1 - Thursday
The trip departs Florence from the Santa Maria Novella train station Thursday evening. The meeting point is in the International Ticketing Hall opposite tracks 8 and 9. Please meet your trip leader at least 20 minutes prior to departure. Make sure to bring your passport and have it with you on the bus, as we will be driving through border control. Travel to Croatia is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and bathroom. We make one 45 minute stop and drive overnight. Upon arrival to Split Friday morning, we will check into our accommodation. Please note, travel time to and from Split may vary due to Schengen zone regulations enforced at the Croatian border.
Day 2 - Friday
Friday you have all day to explore Split and its surrounding areas. Bus2alps will organize a river rafting trip on the Cetina River in which you can choose to participate. If you choose not to join any of the outdoor adventures, you can spend your day laying out on one of Split’s beaches, join an included walking tour of the Split city center, visit Diocletian's Palace, rent a bike and ride up Marjan Hill or take a day trip to local surrounding towns, like Omiš.
Friday night there will be an optional pub crawl (not included) to experience the best of Split’s bustling nightlife. Meet in the hostel reception area at the designated time set by your Trip Leader if you are interested in joining the pub crawl. If you choose not to join the pub crawl, the night is free to explore Split’s many restaurants and cafes or to stroll along the waterfront Riva.
Day 3 - Saturday
Saturday you have all day to explore Split, the second largest city in Croatia and largest on the Dalmatian Coast. For those interested, Bus2alps will organize a private island cruise that heads to the island of Brač (not included). Meet in the hostel reception area at the designated time set by your Trip Leader to depart for the Island Cruise. We will sail to the island of Brač and enjoy an included lunch onboard before hopping off upon arrival at the island's center, the town of Supetar. Brač is known for its rolling hills, isolated bays, clear waters and in the summer months, water sports and activities. You will have time to explore the island, relax on the beach and swim for a few hours in the afternoon before sailing home in the early evening.
If you stay in Split, you can spend your day laying out on one of Split’s beautiful beaches, join a tour of the Diocletian Palace, go to Marjan Hill or take a day trip to local surrounding towns.
Saturday night there will be an optional trip to the neighboring island town of Trogir, situated thirty to forty minutes from Split (included and requires minimum number of participants). In this beautiful historic town known for its Venetian architecture, there are many great harbour-front dinner options. Your Trip Leader can provide you with recommendations for where to eat. We will return to Split after dinner and afterwards, it is possible to check out some of Split’s many great nightlife options.
Day 4 - Sunday
There will be an optional day trip option to either Bosnia or Dubrovnik that will depart first thing in the morning. You can choose to either head to Mostar, Bosnia, home of the famous Stari Most bridge, or make your way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, home of King's Landing from Game of Thrones. Otherwise, the day is yours to do some last minute shopping in Split and relax on the beach. Sunday is a free day to visit any of the sites you missed over the weekend.
Day 5 - Monday
Sunday morning we will depart Split for Krka National Park. There you will have a few hours to swim and explore some of Mother Nature’s incredible waterfalls, most notably the Skradinski Buk. We will depart Krka for Florence in the late morning/early afternoon and will make one stop en route for dinner.
Rafting the Cetina River: Experience an adventurous ride down Croatia’s natural beauty, the Cetina River. Duck through lush overgrown trees expanding over the river and find yourself in large scenic expanses as you rush down the Cetina. When we’re all finished and off the river, a traditional Croatian late lunch will be included featuring various entree options alongside local Croatian bread and a traditional dessert. Private Island Cruise: Spend your day sailing along the coastline on a private boat and visiting the island of Brač. The cruise includes a grilled seafood, veggie or chicken lunch with bread, wine and water. Brač is known for its rolling hills, isolated bays, clear waters and in the summer months, water sports and activities. Once on Brač, you will have the afternoon to explore the medieval town of Supetar, relax on the beach and swim before sailing home in the early evening. Approximate Cost: 55 EUR
Pub Crawl: Immerse yourself in a mix of Split’s top pubs, bars and clubs, while getting to know other fellow travelers! Approximate Cost: 20 EUR (paid in cash in person)
Day Trip to Bosnia: Spend the day exploring the magnificent city of Mostar. Discover the winding alleys and cross one of the world’s most famous bridges, Stari Most. Approximate Cost: 39 EUR
Day Trip to Dubrovnik: Spend Sunday wandering the Old Town of Dubrovnik and feel like you are in a scene from Game of Thrones first-hand! Approximate Cost: 39 EUR
